FABRIC: 100% cotton pre-washed only please.
COLORS: Please use a pale sky blue (either tone-on-tone
or a
solid) to make a daytime sky for the background.
Your
choice of colors for the balloon, the wilder the better!
BLOCK SIZE: 1.5 inches, 3 inches, or 6 inches.

Either striped or solid balloons are okay.
Experiment! I found that I could fit a small
foundation pieced block *inside* the 6 inch balloon.
Be creative, the sky's the limit here! (Bad pun, sorry)
Rope lines: Be creative! (Ideas: pigma
pen, silk
ribbon embroidery, regular embroidery, stitching with
fancy thread, couching, etc)
SIGNATURE SQUARES: For every balloon block you swap,
please include one 4x4 inch square of either white
fabric or bleached muslin, and sign it with your name,
town, state, and country.
MAILING: Please leave the paper on your blocks when
you mail them, and write your name, state, and email
address on the back. Please put your blocks
in a
plastic baggie to keep them a little safer during
shipping! No limit on the number of blocks swapped,
but please send no more than four of the same block
(For example, you can send 12 three inch blocks, but
make four of them red, four of them blue, four of
them
green.). Send me any combination of the three
sizes
available, and I will return to you the same number
of
the same size blocks. Please e-mail me when
you put
your blocks in the mail so I can be on the look-out
for them!
DEADLINE: September 1, 1997.
You can mail your blocks
any time between now and Sept 1. Blocks will
be
swapped on Sept 1 and in the mail to you within a
week.
In early August, I will try to get an approximate
count of how many blocks and what sizes you’re all
planning to swap. Before then, I don't need
to know
how many you're doing. (I don't know what I'm
doing
myself...)
POSTAGE: Please include a return SASE for me to send
your blocks back in (same size and same postage as
what you’re mailing me). Please use stamps on
your
return envelope, not metered mail. Tyvek envelopes
are durable, lightweight, and FREE at the post office!
On the outside of both envelopes, please write “up,
up, and away” and the number of blocks you’re sending.
Please e-mail me for my s-mail address.
INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS: Contact me personally and we
will work out a postage substitute.
OFF-LINE SWAPPERS: Welcome to join too, as long as
they follow all the guidelines.
SIGN-UP or QUESTIONS? E-mail me! :)
Happy Sewing and have a great summer!
