LIBRARY BLOCK SWAP III
First, do not let your inexperience or fear prevent you
from joining
this swap. If you need a pattern, email
me for info.
MAILING: Please read carefully. Non-compliance
is very expensive to your
hostess. There are a few changes from the last swap.
This is a centralized swap. All blocks will be sent
to Leslie for
coordinating and remail. Each block is to be placed
in an individual
baggy with your name and e-mail address. Blocks
should be mailed in a
padded envelope to prevent post office hiccups.
You will include in
your padded envelope a return SASE also padded.
For those who are
unable to send return SASE, please enclose FQ to cover
postage. Thank
you. Priority mail is not required, your choice.
BLOCK:
We are using the 12 1/2" x 8" unfinished block as described
in the pattern
from Quick Quilts premire issue.
This block contains (4) units (a, b, c, d) joined to make
(1) block.
Please join your units.
Any type fabric may be used. Please interface fabrics
to the weight of 100%
cotton fabrics,. i.e. lames and other lightweights.
This will help with
uniformity of your block. The use of variety fabrics
really added a zing to
the last swap.
You may or may not use the "slanted" book.
You may arrange your block units
in any fashion. You may design your own bookshelf
as long as the
end results are 8" x 12 1/2". You may use
any method to make your
blocks. Everything is Your choice.
All blocks should be embellished with design of choice.
Some
suggestions are: coffee mugs, plants, kitties/doggies,
knick-knacks,
pictures/frames, laces, buttons, embroidery (hand or
machine) book
titles, etc. Permanent marking pens are great!
Someone suggested that you
could put your favorite book title on a spine to enlarge
our gotta read
lists. Embellish to your heart’s content.
If you are
uncomfortable embellishing your block, use fancy or character
fabrics in your
books. Some of the best blocks were made like this
and lack of
embellishments were not at all a problem.
Anyone using a fusible web technique for their block must
secure with
satin stitch or a blind hem stitch or some other type
of stitching
(buttonhole) that would secure the fabric through cleaning
or aging.
Background fabric will be black (no florals or prints other than black).
Making duplicate blocks (all the same) is not a problem
because we have so
many signed up and there is a limit. I will be
very careful about making
sure you do not get duplicates back.
NUMBERS:
You will receive the same number of blocks back that you
send. Maximum 12
blocks per person. This third swap is meant to add even
more blocks to your
collection. If you do not wish to get blocks from
the same people you
already have, please include a list of the names you
already have and I will
do my very best not to duplicate.
